FFF Broken for Fimfic
I downloaded the test but FFF is still broken for me when updating to . The error I'm getting is: Status:Bad Title:Unknown Author:Unknown 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'find' URL:https://www.fimfiction.net/story/298834/ (same error for every story so url doesn't really matter I suppose) Is there a way for me to fix this, should I roll back to an older Calibre version, or do I just need to wait for an update? I feel like there should be something I could do to fix this in the settings but I just can't seem to find anything and looking at the zip contents make me feel like the worlds biggest idiot. |

I got it to work finally. One of my Firefox addons was eating it. Chrome fixed it. So I was right, it was my fault.

FYI, the following sites all appear to have gone away:
If you like any of these sites and know how to contact the owner, you might want to check with them. I won't remove support for them in the release I plan to make this week, but they will be removed in the release after that if still down. |

Edit: Fixed it! I don't know what was the cause. But I just cleared my cookies in Chrome and did all the stuff below and it works now
I am trying to download a story from this website https://www.fimfiction.net/story/377...lights-problem But when I copy that web address and try downloading nothing downloads and I get this error report http://imgur.com/QSEWRSe I just installed the newest version of Calibre today on my Windows PC. Is there something wrong with the program or is it my computer? Edit: I guess I'm having the same problem as Epoch615 above. But I don't have Firefox add ons, since I use the Chrome browser, so I wonder what the heck could be interfering with this program. I added Calibre to my allowable programs in my firewall. I even installed the test version of fanficfare in the front page of this thread. I really want this to work. I don't know what I should do. Last edited by spearstuff; 06-21-2017 at 09:43 PM. |

I've figured out what's causing the Fimfiction error. I made a silly oversight in an obscure regex that only gets called as a fallback when Fimfiction fails to generate a full set of data for some reason.
Basically, the adapter tries to read the author's "last logged in" date, which is normally present in the page in a nice Unix-formatted timestamp. But occasionally for reasons I've not been able to determine that timestamp is missing from the page's source. In that case the adapter falls back to trying to parse the human-readable date string instead. I wrote a regex that, among other things, turns the date ordinal "21st", "22nd", "23rd", "24th", etc. into just the number... but I forgot to include the "st" case. So, sometimes Fimfiction fails to include a Unix timestamp for the "last logged in" date, and when that date happens to be the "1st", "21st" or "31st" of some month the fallback regex fails to parse it. Obscure edge cases are such fun. I tested on literally thousands of Fimfiction test URLs without encountering this. I guess now that it's the 21st of June it suddenly became more common. Hi!
Just a quick question about this new keyword_filelist option - or rather, output_css_filelist: I wanted to ask whether it only works for epub, at first, but then I realised that it seems to rather pick and choose which elements it enforces in my html file. Which makes me wonder a bit. I've attached the relevant documents for comparison. One is the html file with the out_put_css_filelist, the other without it. And the ini I've been using it with. It boggles my mind just why it wants to ignore the margin I've set for the text body, for example. Am I doing something wrong, overlooking the obvious-to-all-but-me, or is it a case of the filelist element not being meant for any but epub in the first place? Thank you kindly |

output_css_filelist includes the contents as-is--_filelist files are not additional INI files. And output_css is the keyword for using in INI files. What it looks like is happening is that you kept the output_css keyword in your CSS file and that's messing up everything after it. The extra space beginning each line shouldn't matter, but isn't needed in the CSS file. (Kudos on change the %%s to % though--that is needed.) So remove output_css: from the CSS file and it should be fine. |
