I'm guessing Windows 11 doesn't have the C library dependency you can download from the link (in an earlier post). I definitely know that I was able to install the Nook App in Windows 11 but I did install the libraries that you can download at the same link.

I didn't know that. That might be a good reason to keep using Calibre 6.x — or can this feature be disabled?

For what it may be worth, if you download the VCLibs Redistributable Packages, open the downloaded .zip file and extract and install the Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00_12.0.21005.1_x86__8wekyb3d 8bbwe.appx package, that is the one needed to install the Nook app package downloaded from the Adguard supplied link (it's an x86 package so needs the VC x86 library installed).
I tested this on a fresh Windows 11 install in a virtual machine. Last edited by DNSB; 08-06-2024 at 02:00 AM. |

Ok. You lost me. What does "need to install the library file" mean? which library file? Where is it? are you talking about the file with Nook formatted books that I downloaded? What about the Kindle books?

On my new PC, all I have done is install Calibre.
what do I do next? For the old PC? 1. Backup the Hash Code so I can import it to the new PC. 2. Install Quality check to make sure the books open. 3. not sure how to get the books to the new PC. ???? My ex-S-I-L tinkered with my PC and he created a network?? An old (HP) laptop is connected via ethernet to router, and is being used as a Plex movie server. That old laptop has two 8TB external hard drives connected to it full time. (1 for Plex movies and 1 for my laptop backups.) The old laptop is not used for anything else. A newer laptop/tablet (Sony Tap 20) (still very old) is networked to that older HP laptop wirelessly so I can watch movies on my Tap 20 and wirelessly do backups, file sharing, etc. So now I have the new laptop (Acer) that is NOT networked, and I have spent the last week trying to add the new Acer laptop. I have no idea how to add it to the network. I have tried everything from the Microsoft website, but I get stuck when it asks for some code for Microsoft. I have no idea what he used. I tried entering my Microsoft user name and password, but that did not work. If I could get the new laptop networked with the old Tap 20, I could use the two external hard drives to hold my ebooks. Is this the correct order? For the new PC. 1. Install calibre. 2. install plugins. 3. Install Quality Check. 4. Install Kindle for Windows. 5. ???? Move ebooks to the new laptop. 6. ???? Move that Hashtag file (Nook) to new laptop? Thanks if anyone can straighten me out on what to do. |
