Microsoft Reader Format vs. MobiPocket (DRM'd)

Hey, I was wondering which format is easier to convert for a Kindle.

Is it easier to use KindleFIX on DRM'd MobiPocket, or to use the Microsoft Reader format and run it through Convert LIT and then through Calibre?

Thanks!

The former, plus there is the consideration that, if you live in the United States, you are committing a crime by removing DRM from a LIT file, but not if you use KindleFIX, since this does not remove DRM.

Alright, thanks.

I don't live in the US, but I'll go for KindleFIX anyway.

If you live somewhere where you're OK with removing DRM, then you're fine with either format. Using "ConvertLIT" to "explode" a LIT file to its OEB source, and then "MobiPocket Creator" to convert that to Mobi format is easy and very quick, and the results are generally very good.

You'll need to use ConvertLIT to remove the DRM, but calibre does a better job both of extracting LIT to its HTML content and of converting non-Mobipocket-specific HTML to Mobipocket.
