iPad2 PDF->ePUB Conversion Settings

Hey folks,

I've been toying with Calibre for a few days now. I am trying to convert a publisher-provided PDF to an ePub and unfortunately, all of my attempts have been in vein. The ePub version has the following issues:

1) The TOC is almost always destroyed (i.e. fonts are too large, line breaks are random)
2) The contents of the book itself contain random breaks in words and formatting is almost always lost.

Has anyone else experienced this and how did you solve it? Is there an official or unofficial set of settings that work well for the iBooks app that will help alleviate these issues? Unfortunately, simply choosing "iPad" doesn't work in this case.

Ah the one place I didn't check but should have (RTFM right?). Thanks I'll check that out.

"Many types of pdf images aren't supported or may convert incorrectly. PDF tables and other specialized text formatting are not supported. In fact, the only 'special' text formatting which is supported are italics and bold - all other text formatting and positioning is eliminated during conversion."

It looks like this is on the to do list for the next release. Hopefully sooner than later. Thanks for your help.

What is on whose todo list? I don't know of any changes coming for PDF conversion anytime soon.

Until now the unproper font size issue still existed and haven't found an add-in or artificial intelligence of converting a PDF to ePub with font which very commonly used as italics and bold has mcuh progressed.
