How to backup 1.1.01.25200

I am going to install new fonts in my PRS 505, so if anything goes wrong I'd like to be able to revert to the original 1.1.01.25200 without downgrading to the earlier version.

Is this possible? What if I just copy the two root folders (“database” and “tmp”), and later, should any problems arise, just copy them back to the reader?

What you are proposing won't work. There might be a way to pull off the firmware from your reader, but you'd need something written to do so. You cannot do it just hooking the 505 to the computer.

The filespace that you see when the device is mounted is just the 'exported' part of the main filesystem so it's not that easy.

You /can/ use the flashing utilities to backup your firmware image first though, but it's not as well documented as the customiser process.

Ok, thanks. I used Snapshot to make an image. I don't know if it will work and I hope I won't have to find out.
