Display of comments in Metadata

It seems something changed in a recent update, or I have messed up a setting somewhere, and I can no longer see the data from the Metadata Comments field for any of my books. The data still seems to be there as I can see it when I select the "HTML Source" view, but when I look at the "Normal View" it is blank. That said, it appears the information is there in the "Normal View" on some level. I can select it and copy and paste into an email and it is visible, I can even select underline or strikethrough and see the lines I would expect, I just can't see the actual text. Bizarre.

Click edit metadata, select all the text i the comments box and click the remove formatting button.

I appreciate the tip, I have tried that but the problem persists.

When I access the same library from a different machine running 0.8.14 I can see the comments, but on my primary machine running 0.8.17 they are "invisible".

Both machines are running OSX Lion.

This will be something to do with some OS X level settings on the problematic machine. I remember one other person having this problem, though I can't remember if/how they solved it. Try googling and see if you can find the other person's thread/bug report.
