iBooks macht Schluss mit niedrigen eBook-Preisen
Von einem bekannten Verleger habe ich gerade etwas erfahren, was mich richtig verärgert - als Verleger wie als Leser.
Apples iBooks-Preismodell sorgt dafür, dass wirklich niedrige Preise im iBooks-Store nur selten zu finden sein werden*. Die Preise, die ein eBook kosten muss (wohlgemerkt: muss, nicht darf!) sind konkret vorgegeben. So muss ein Titel, der in gedruckter Form erhältlich ist und zwischen 9.00 Euro und 11.99 Euro kostet, bei iBooks 8.49 Euro kosten. Entsprechend gibt es Vorgaben für höhere Preisegefüge. Das ist umso ärgerlicher, da sich Apple genau wie Amazon eine Garantie darauf geben lässt, dass das eBook nirgendwo anders günstiger angeboten werden darf. Wenn also ein Verleger von einem Taschenbuch für 9.95 ein eBook vielleicht für 4.95 angeboten hat, darf er diesen Preis nun auf 8.49 hochsetzen, wenn er in iBooks möchte. Dass sich ein Verleger vorscheiben lassen darf, welchen Preis er zu verlangen hat, ist für mich schon ein Unding. Dass er seine eBooks nicht einmal kundenfreundlich günstig anbieten darf, eine Frechheit gegenüber den Kunden. Ungeklärt ist noch die Frage, wie es aussieht, wenn Verleger A die gedruckte Fassung herausgibt und Verleger B die eBook-Fassung. Ob dann dieser Preiszwang auch noch greift, da lasse ich gerade nachfragen. Das würde nämlich bei meinen Dan Shocker-eBooks bedeuten, dass ich den Preis von 4.50 auf 8.49 hochsetzen dürfte, wenn ich bei iBooks rein wollte, weil die Paperbacks für 9.99 verkauft werden. Das wäre eine Preissteigerung von 88% ... Da muss jeder Kunde selbst entscheiden, ob er/sie das mitmacht. Bin aber gespannt, wie lange das im Bezug aufs Wettbewerbsrecht toleriert wird. *) d.h. nur für eBooks, zu denen es keine 1:1-Printfassung gibt. Hier macht Apple keine Vorgaben. Wobei man jetzt sagen muss das was jedenfalls meinen Lesegeschmack betrifft ich es selten bis eigentlich noch nie erlebt habe das der Taschenbuchpreis sagen wir mal doppelt so hoch war wie der ebook Preis. Egal bei welchem Store. Meistens spielen die in der gleichen Liga bis leicht drunter.
Was ich mich beim iBook-Store nur frage ist ob der wirklich dicke Umsätze macht. Ich meine z.B. beim iPad heisst es schon nach 4 Tagen das die Preorder ja quasi appelkometische megadolle Umsatzrekorde von Millionen in 24h erzielt. Das Gleiche beim iPhone 4. Auch die Umsatzzahlen vom Appstore werden ständig belobdudelt und wie toll doch alles läuft. Nur vom iBook-Store wäre mir jetzt nichts bekannt. Noch keine Steve Jobbies Kanzelrede wie genial die Umsatzzahlen sind und wie die Strategie doch so gut aufgeht und man ja bald die Konkurrenz schon eingeholt oder abgehängt hat. Also mich macht das misstrauisch Ich denke soviel Schweigen kann man auch mit einem eventuellen Flopp bisher interpretieren |

Wollte ich auch schon fragen.
Auf Spiegel Online gibt es einen Artikel, der ca. 1 Jahr alt ist. Dort wird von 69% Marktanteil in den USA gesprochen. Natürlich verdient Apple an jedem Song nur ein paar Cent. Nur macht es hier ganz klar die Masse aus. Und Apple wird nichts betreiben, wenn sie nichts daran verdienen. Aber, kann gut sein, dass sie inzwischen über Apps mehr Geld verdienen. |

Naja mit positiven Nachrichten hält Apple Gott Jobs aber doch eher weniger hinterm Berg? Also ich finde es merkwürdig ruhig ...
