Manage library when Calibre got uninstalled
Hello all,
I'm using Ubuntu on my laptop and I upgraded my system to find Calibre was no longer installed. I want to know the best way to recover the library and transfer the files to a backup or another computer. I've backed up my library before, but only using the tools inside Calibre; sadly, I didnt think to do so before upgrading this time. If I re-install Calibre, is it easy to point the app to the old library location and recover it (without overwriting anything) ? If I want to move the Calibre Main Library folder, do I have to move all the contents (all the authors ?) I have a big collection and I would be happy to transfer only a couple of books into my other computer for now. I guess I could just move the epubs themselves if I don't mind losing metadata ? Thanks for reading, this is my first post on this forum so tell me if I've done something wrong ! Alizee |

It may be even easier than that.
Use the Official Calibre install (not the repo one) As long as you logon is the same, it should discover your settingd (assume rights to the Library remain) Otherwise. Right click the Library Icon: Creat/Switch: USE EXISTING: <point to it> |

Thanks Ducks,
What do you mean by the logon being the same ? Is it the computer user being the same, or some account related to Calibre ? I'll follow your advice as soon as I can (having a bit of unrelated trouble with this computer) |

If that is intact (or can be restored from a backup), all you need do is correct any path changes by using the method above. |
