I'm in! It's certainly the closest we've come to a pastry celebration around here in a long time. I'm dreaming of a pear tart right now (close enough to a doughnut for me). I will plan to make one on May 2 and post a photo. You can count on it!

I had big giant Publix donuts yesterday!
They went well with unsweet iced tea and Years Best Scifi 2008. May 2nd is too long away to wait for the next donuts. I may have to celebrate early!! |

That's retroactive to the beginning of the year, right?
Which are the make-up days? |

Problem with doughnuts is that in Texas, the doughnut shops all close at noon. When I get ready to settle down to a book and a doughnut mid-afternoon, I'm faced with having to stop at a local gas station/quick market and pick up a stale doughnut that was delivered early in the morning or go to the grocery store and pick up a package of those Little Debbie abominations that pretend to be cake doughnuts.

Our local C-store carries the best glazed donuts ever. Right down the street, there is Mr D's which carries the best other types of donuts ever.
Factor out the Hiawatha Statue and the climate and La Crosse is a great place to live. |

Last time we bought doughnuts, we got 6 and then got another 6 for free.
But Dunkin Doughnuts is cheating people. Rising the price and shrinking the size of the doughnuts is a cheat. |

Gee, food manufacturers have been doing that for years . . . smaller sizes, lighter weights, less volume, etc., at higher prices. It's become the norm in (food) retail.
