Possible fix for dropped wifi

Based on a post I read (I think at xda-developers) I installed "WiFi Static" and set up a static wifi connection on my home network for my nook. I then had it "forget" the dynamic connection.

It appears never to drop the connection anymore.

Static wifi fixed some issues I was having with loss of wifi........since using it. ........I've never had an issue......

I'm rooted at 1.0.1........... no plans to upgrade to 1.1 and re-rooting for me, even if that upgrade eliminates te need for static wifi.....

Glad it worked. I think I had one wifi drop in about a week.

PS: I did the CWM method to upgrade to 1.1 and had no problems at all.

this may be a bit different or not related but i tried the static wifi trick on my nook color but the drops continued for me. Then i decided to troubleshoot the router. I messed with all my Linksys e3000 router (firmware 1.0.04) settings until i disabled the CTS Protection modes for both 5/2.4GHz ranges. Voila! no more drops. I tested by trying to tweak other features and trying other settings but it came back down to the CTS protection for me. Just something new to add to this discussion just in cases.
