Constant Restarts

Ever since I upgraded to 3.17, I have totally lost control over my reader. When I close the sleep cover, it will just restart. When I connect to the PC it will restart.

I want to downgrade back to 3.15 (which had no problems except ghosting and problems with dictionary lookups), I connect to the PC and choose connect on the reader. However it will not show up under the PC since it just restarts before realizing the connection. Therefore I have no control over the folders in the device and I cannot load the 3.15 downgrade.

Has anyone else had this? What can I do? I am also ready to mod the device if necessary because I cannot use it like this anyway! Worst time I had with Kobo over the years, really poor firmware!

Sounds like a factory reset is your best bet, but you might want to skip 3.15, given the posts recently.

Luck;

Teach Kobo a lesson: Take it back as a warranty return and don't upgrade the new one past 3.15.

We have two Aura HD in our house. They were both upgraded by performing a factory reset, then allowing Kobo Desktop to upgrade them to 3.15, and then sideloading 3.17 by putting the update files in the .kobo directory. The upgrade on one reader completed without incident and it can be used as normal. The other, with 3.17 installed, continually reboots such that it is unusable.
