I have been using the dadori fork 5.5 version for a while now and then I saw there was an update on the main git so I downloaded 5.6.1 and saw there was a kfx output option, selected that option and converted a file but the output was just an epub file, do I need something extra or that's still not working or what, I'm on windows

That was in code since the original version, but it was never exposed to the UI.

Basically it was designed to be used with calibre's KFX Output Plugin. Note that you need to use calibre. Because calibre will actually strip the fixed layout information and feed it to KFX Output as if it's a reflow books with list of pages, which can be converted automatically to KFX. It won't actually produce proper Manga KFX though -- for that you need to do it manually with Kindle Create.

Ok, so it's not really working?

Hi!
Does anyone know the Width and Height of an Epub file for an iPhone and an iPad Mini?
I'm converting Manga's on KCC and using the "Kindle" size but my phone does not like it.
Also, what do you set the Gamma on?

for the width and height you google the specs of your specific model, as for the gamma, you either leave it at auto or you fiddle with it untill you find one that you feel comfortable with.

At the risk of asking a silly question, what are file types that Kindle Paperwhite 11 Signature and KCC have in common? When I create files, I send them over via Calibre, and as far as I can tell of the options available in KCC only MOBI works. If I put anything else in Calibre it'll demand I auto-convert when I try to USB transfer.

The problem there is that MOBI is a file type where you can't embed the metadata within Calibre unless you convert again which A: causes some margin and image problems and B: in the case of manga, reverts to left to right page flips and reading. On my device, am I missing something in terms of KCC options or is MOBI really the only functional one?

I could assign the right metadata to the CBRs in KCC then generate the MOBIs but doing that on a one-by-one basis is a lot longer than bulk editing metadata and embedding in Calibre, but again, that can't be done on MOBIs without reconverts, which aren't great.

Yes, only MOBI file work. The problem is that calibre refused to support fixed-layout book so conversion in calibre will broke all the formatting. You need to convert with kindlegen.

You could set the output to EPUB, import them to calibre, bulk edit the metadata, and then manually use kindlegen to convert the polished epub, but I don't think that is necessarily easier than doing CBR metadata embedding.

I have a request for the Kindle Comic Converter developer. Can you please add an option to output both EPUB and MOBI formats at the same time? Currently, if I select MOBI format, it generates an EPUB file first and then converts it to MOBI. I would like to have the option to keep the EPUB file after conversion is completed, instead of deleting it. Thank you.

I'm sorry, I'm using an older version

About the metadata after conversion

I would like to inquire about:
I have the format as
"[author name] book title" of the manga catalog
I would like to put the batch into KCC after conversion
I want to display the book title and author name correctly on the reader
instead of
Author name: KCC
Book name: [author name] book name

So I have to change the epub metadata manually every time.
Is there any way I can achieve this?
I hope someone can kindly tell me to help me.

You need to use ComicRack metadata to automatically set metadata of the output EPUB. KCC doesn't read metadata from file name.

Some pages without processing/cropping

Hi, great program! Thank you for it!

Sometimes there is a need for some pages in the book not to crop the margins, but now the checkbox affects all pages without exceptions. Is there any way to add pages to exceptions before processing and not cropping margins on them?

I'm going to assume that you are running Windows in a 64 bit version.

Download the kcc_5.6.2.exe file from Github

If you do not already have 7Zip installed, download it from the 7Zip home page. I would recommend the .exe installer.

Download the Kindle Previewer from Amazon. This is the only way to get the most current version of KindleGen.

Install 7Zip and add it's path to the Windows Path variable. The path should be C:\Program Files\7-Zip\ for the default install.

Download and install Kindle Previewer. This will install into your App Data directory. As mentioned in the KCC docs, the usual path would be C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Amazon\Kindle Previewer 3\lib\fc\bin\ for a standard install. Replace <username> with your Windows username.

Create a directory ( I boringly called it KCC) on your desktop. Copy the downloaded KCC executable and the kindlegen.exe into that directory.

If you have set the path to 7Zip correctly, KCC should come up and happy when you click on KCC<whatever>.exe.
