Thanks. Mom had her PET and MRI scans yesterday. Some 2 hrs for the one and an hr and a half for the other. Supposed to get chemo and radiation next Wed, Thursday and Friday. After that I don't know, but the Dr. was optimistic at least. If it is just in the lung then she has good chances at 80%.

Mom had her 1st chemo treatment today. We got there a bit before 10 am and got out around 4 pm. A long day. Mom had some slight reaction to one of the chemo drugs so they kept her for a bit longer to deal with that. According to her Dr. the cancer is only in the area of her lung (with perhaps a little in some lymph nodes) so they caught it early. 3 days of chemo followed by a couple weeks before the next treatment and possibly radiation (in Freeport). Then new scans. Repeat several times.

Mom got through her 1st 3 day week of Chemo. Her white blood cell count is down a little of course as a result so she feels weak and is more prone to infections. She caught a case of shingles as well. Hopefully I won't catch it. I never had Chicken pox as a child.

Glad to hear about the chemo, but shingles is miserable. Continued best wishes.

Mom has been smoke free for almost 1.5 months now. Of course the Chemo's effects aren't fun but things could be a lot worse.

Mom is in hospital for the next few days at least. Nausea, dizziness and a temp. of 101. Probably an effect of her Chemo as her white count is down and Chemo has a habit of that (along with radiation which she is also getting).

Thanks Cinisajoy. Mom might be in as long as Monday I gather. Or so they told me today. Now they think that she had a slight heart attack and it reduced blood flow to her colon (which caused the initial pain problem). When mom gets out of hospital she is likely to be in Monroe Manor (nursing home) for a few weeks. They do have good care over there at least. I know because my fiance is currently a resident there. Still you would think that she could catch a break. Colon pain, balance issues from a small stroke a few yrs back, lung cancer, the effects of the chemo treatments and radiation (low white cell count) and now a slight heart attack. Mind, I don't know how you can call any heart attack 'slight.'
