Safe to Play without Update???

I'm having a lot of trouble downloading the update and the support services are closed now, so I was wondering if it is safe to explore the eDGe without the update. What do you think? I was really hoping to get the update installed before doing that....

I'm really frustated right now, so am going out to get some wine and a cigar!! Will be back in about twenty minutes from posting time and am hoping someone might have responded

I have been using mine for 5-6 hours over two days without downloading the update.

We first batch users lived for 3 weeks without the patch

The two biggest fixes I found was a much faster keyboard, and the LCD side would turn off and stay turned off more reliably (which means a slightly better battery life).

Totally safe to play. It just might be slower than normal, and some of the power settings might be off (ie it might turn on/off when you least expect it). Also, the keyboard response is better after the update. But you won't do any harm using it, so feel free! Enjoy!! And just know it will only get better once you do update.

I just sent you a private message with an alternate way to update the device, unfortunately we are all out of the office right now but hopefully this helps.

Thanks so much Boris, Sarah and Gunner and done ... I know it's getting a little late for some of you.

One more thing I had posted also in the General Help and found out the error code (101) I was getting was relating to Adobe Registration. Does that mean I HAVE to register before I download the update??? .... because that doesn't make any sense to me... but then, I'm a noob when it comes to the drm thing.

A number of users had problems registering until *after* they downloaded the update, actually. In any case, order doesn't matter.

You do not need to register in order to get updates, the eDGe was designed so that you can update the device without it being registered. The code 101 - The software update has failed due to a network connection problem. Check your network settings and try again. This is not an Adobe issue and only seems to affect downloading the update. Please be sure to submit a ticket so that the support team can work on this issue with you.
