No line space break in between persepctive shifts in narrative
Hello all,
I was hoping someone could help me with a problem. I'm reading a book (an epub) where perspectives often shift within a chapter. To do this, the book is formatted so that whenever the perspective shifts, an empty line is shown in between paragraphs. Unfortunately, on KOReader, these spaces aren't there, making things a bit confusing to read. Is there some simple fix to this I'm just not aware of? I've tried toggling the embedded style on and off and it doesn't fix the problem. The first attached image shows the problem (there should be a an empty line after “Elder Gods embodied a host of harsh unpleasantries.”), while the second image shows how it should work (same .epub file, but opened in Calibre's ebook reader). I've also tried loading .mobi docs and have run into the same problem. Any ideas? |

We'll need the exact HTML snippet of such a scene break/PoV shift (which you can access in one of the highlighting menus, IIRC, although since you have Calibre open, that works, too ), as well as any Style tweaks you may have enabled (that's in the top menu > Document tab > Style tweaks), and whether you're actually set to honor embedded styles at all (that's in the bottom menu > Gear tab, IIRC).

Ah, sorry, here you go! I have no style tweaks set. Embedded style is currently on, though I've tried turning it off, with no change to the problem. I've attached the HTML snippet. |

So, that's an inline br w/ a class. What does the CSS have to say about the calibre1 class?

Interesting. So it sounds like it's just a bug then?

Quite likely, and one @poire-z was already working on .
Still curious about the actual content of that calibre1 class, in case it's sneakier than what we're currently aware of . |

Nothing much to see there.
Code:
.calibre_1 { display: block; text-align: center; text-indent: 0; margin: 0 } |

Isn't the use of the br tag for a scene break a misuse of the tag ?

Of course, but the HTML being wrong doesn't necessarily mean our rendering is right. ^_^
