Standalone ebook-convert

Hi!

I need a docx to epub conversion for my send to Kobo utility (currently in developement), and I don't want the user to rely on installing calibre if they don't want to.

Is it possible to use the ebook-convert.exe as a standalone tool? With as few dll's and others as possible?

You are best to install Calibre. Errors get fixed and when they do, you'll want the newest version. Also, the DLLs and other programs are intertwined. You won't easily be able to tell what does what. You'll have to look at the source code to see what's what and unless you have a correct compiler environment setup, you'll never get Calibre compiled from source. The space you save with what files are not needed it so minimal, that you'd be best off with the full Calibre.

Thanks, maybe the users wouldn't bother installing it anyway. I was just curious if it was possible/worth it.

It is possible but it's not worth it. The effort to read all of the source code and try to figure out exactly what you need and what you don't is not worth it. Besides, maybe your users will find the GUI of use.
