Released v1.24.0 (finally)!
That's the big one, with Elipsa support, a bunch of new APIs, and a bunch of API tweaks that came up during the NanoClock development... See the full release notes for more details, because it will probably break some stuff . |

Hi,
I tried fbink with the new Kobo Sage reader (more or less the replacement of Kobo Forma). It seems that fbink does not support it (yet?). It is used by AutoShelf (that I patched to use your 1.24.0 version). It is run during file transfert (so /mnt/onboard is unmounted). Here is the stderr: Code:

Recompiling fbink from github source makes it work with Kobo Sage.
It means that the package at the start of this thread is not fully up-to-date (383 is indeed the KOBO_SAGE ID in the sources). |

KoboStuff should have more up to date binaries, because it's always built from master.
This thread, on the other hand, only ships releases. And Sage support hasn't hit a release yet, because time . |

Hey NiLuJe (or anyone who could help me), I am having trouble with pretty much all the apps (Plato, Koreader, and my own scripts which use FBInk).
Here is the error I get when I try to start my app: Code:
[FBInk] Detected a Kobo Aura H2O┬▓ r2 (378 => Snow @ Mark 7) [FBInk] Enabled Kobo Mark 7 quirks [FBInk] Clock tick frequency appears to be 100 Hz [FBInk] Screen density set to 265 dpi [FBInk] Variable fb info: 1080x1440, 32bpp @ rotation: 1 (Clockwise, 90 ) [FBInk] Fontsize set to 24x24 (IBM base glyph size: 8x8) [FBInk] Line length: 45 cols, Page size: 60 rows [FBInk] Horizontal fit is perfect! The framebuffer resolution is 1080 by 1440. Can't update [0, 0, 1080, 1440]: can't send framebuffer update: ENOTTY: Not a typewriter. I do not know what started this issue. I have not used my ereader for a few months (I was reading a saga on actual paper), and when I synchronized it again, it downloaded an update. I am guessing this update broke something because everything was working before (?). I tried:
I do not know what to do to fix this. Do you have any advice? Thank you! Btw, here is the CPU version: Code:

@Mavireck: That's interesting ;o).
An H2O²r1 being suddenly misdetected as an r2 would *definitely* exhibit this sort of behavior... Could you post the output of Code:
cat /mnt/onboard/.kobo/version and Code:
ntx_hwconfig -s /dev/mmcblk0 2>/dev/null |

I imagine you'll see the version tag ending with `378` instead of `374`...
(I don't actually know what's responsible for populating this, so I can't assure you that manually tweaking it will be a "permanent" fix (is in, it probably won't survive a nickel startup). It's probably a weird bug in FW 4.35?) |

Here are the results below, it does look like my ereader has turned into a hybrid v1/v2 (so it is a v1.5 now I guess ? )
Code:

Code:
[27] CPU='mx6sl' Editing `/mnt/onboard/.kobo/version` to change the trailing 378 into 374 should "fix" everything, but I'm guessing this is populated at Nickel's startup, so this will be a bit clunky to deal with... |

Thank you a lot for the tip! It does work!
You were right the file is reset by Nickel on each startup. I ended up implementing this ugly workaround, replacing the last character everytime I want to launch Plato, Koreader, or my own app with NickelMenu: Code:
menu_item :main :Plato :cmd_spawn :sed -i '$s/.$/4/' /mnt/onboard/.kobo/version chain_always :cmd_spawn :/mnt/onboard/.adds/plato/plato.sh |

Hello, I can't get fbink to work on my K4 (JB, USBNetwork, KUAL all working). I have un-tared the 1.25 archive from the first post onto the rw root partition and everything seems to be there:
Code:
[root@kindle /]# which fbink /usr/bin/fbink [root@kindle /]# ls -al /usr/bin/fbink lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 May 4 18:38 /usr/bin/fbink -> /usr/local/fbink/bin/fbink [root@kindle /]# ls -al /usr/local/fbink/bin/fbink -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 75604 Dec 5 19:59 /usr/local/fbink/bin/fbink Code:
[root@kindle /]# fbink -sh: fbink: not found |

For a second there I thought I'd mixed up the binaries between the threads myself ;p.
(Keep in mind that, on Kindle, USBNetwork ships a full build, so you don't actually need to install anything, unless you need some stuff from newer versions, as USBNet currently lags a bit behind). (And, on Kobo, the same is true of my KoboStuff package, FWIW). |
