help with mobidedrm
For curiosity, I created a drm protected ebook with MobiCreator, then tried to use mobidedrm to strip off the protection. No matter what version of the program I used, including v .05, I kept getting error 'no key found. maybe pid is incorrect'
In the procedure, I ran cmd to get dos window, had the test book in the python26 subfolder with the mobidedrm files, typed: python mobidededrm.py test.prc testNDRM.prc pid# The pid that I obtained from my bebook settings is what I used. Isn't that the pid that I should be using? Am I missing something? The directions I followed involved dedrming Kindle .azw files - perhaps mobidedrm will not work with prc files?? Bob |

Please don't ask for detailed help with DRM removal. It's against MR's policy.
Thank you. [Moderator] |

I don't think the resulting ebook is quite what you are expecting it to be. My understanding of the process is that when you create a DRM-protected ebook with MobiPocket Creator it is encrypted but it isn't in the form you get back when you download a DRMed MOBI from a store. It is instead in the form required to upload the ebook from a publisher to the DRM server. It is the server which customizes the ebook for a given set of up to 4 PIDs.

Thanks for the info. Apparently my mobicreator doesn't produce a drm version that is consistent with mobidedrm; as I understand mobidedrm as of now, it seems to require a commercial drm protected ebook that has been activated by the seller.
