FYI - If you click on the MobileRead Forums link (the one near the top of the page in the blue box) you get a 404 error. The forums link in the white at the top of the page works properly.

Katie, what browser is it that you're using? It may be that you emptied your browsing history but not your browser's cache. |

Katie, if you are using MSIE, a good idea is to switch to FireFox. It just works so much better.

Why should I switch when MR is the one that messed it up! I sure I not the only one!

Katie, if you are using the default browser of Windows 7, it's Internet Explorer. Depending on the version you are using, just emptying the cache might not be enough to remove the cached redirect that is causing the error when you click on the User CP link.
1. Did you actually empty the browser cache or is it possible that you might have emptied your browsing history instead? I ask because you mentioned history. These are two different things. 2. If you did empty your browser cache and restarting the browser didn't help - you can still not access the User CP - could you try this workaround which is specifically for Internet Explorer? I am sorry for the inconvenience. I wish we had known before about the consequences of improperly using 301 redirects. Last edited by Alexander Turcic; 04-04-2012 at 02:14 PM. |

Using In Private Browsing to navigate to the broken link did fix it. I did that yesterday also so not sure why it wasn't working again today.

Katie, we are not giving up this easily. Just to make sure I understand correctly:
You are using Windows 7. Your browser is Internet Explorer (the one that comes with Windows). Can you tell me if your son followed exactly these steps?
Thanks! |

This is why the switch. Firefox works where MSIE maybe works. And in this case, doesn't work.
