--verbose does nothing, to see debug info, you have to start using calibre-debug -g
This is because gui applications ons ome platforms (windows) have no access to stdout/stderr at all. Ah, yes you cannot add a restore defaults button to the dialog button box, but you can add it inside your widget itself. |

Thanks, it's almost finished now.
How can I provide translations for text resources (like about.txt in the interface_demo_plugin)? Or should I convert that into a python file with a translatable string? |

Use python files for all translatable strings as described in the create plugin tutorial.

And is there any way of determining which is the right value for "minimum_calibre_version". To play safe, I could write my current version, but I'd like to be more accurate.

No, just use the current version. You could in theory review the git log to determine when every feature you use was introduced, but that is waaaay too much effort.

I guessed so... no, I won't do that
Polishing some details now. Can I easily apply CSS syntax highlighting to a QPlainTextEdit widget? Complementarily, can I set the tooltip for the TextEdit widget (from calibre.gui2.tweak_book.editor.text) PS. Would it be better to ask these questions elsewhere? maybe a different thread for each one? |

Sure you can easily use the editor component from tweak_book. See the launch_editor() function for an example.

Sorry, I was not clear. I'm using the editor component (the TextEdit widget), and CSS highlighting there works fine, but I cannot set the tooltip for the editor window (at least setTooltip() does not seem to work).
Since with a vanilla QPlainTextEdit widget the tooltip works, and I don't need any other fancy stuff, I wondered if it is possible to add CSS highlighting to that (and how). |
