For all the bone doctors out there, Amazon.com has the Orthopedic Study Bible...er...Orthodox Study Bible for $2.99.
The OT is the NKJV reworked to accord with the Septuagint and includes additional books. The NT is the NKJV. Notes and articles in accordance with the Eastern Orthodox. |

Purification Offering in the Priestly Literature: Its Meaning and Function by N. Kiuchi is free at Amazon.
This is an academic title that is expanded from the author's Ph. D. thesis and is published as part of Sheffield Academic Press's "Journal for the Study of the Old Testament Supplement Series". I haven't read this book yet, but I do have several others from the series and they're fascinating reading. I put an eReaderIQ watch on this book over two years ago and honestly don't remember why, but I assume it was a footnote or reference in something else that I was reading. I'm also pretty sure that "free" is a much better discount than I was expecting. Quote:

As mentioned by Fluribus, the OSB is the Septuagint translated in the style of the NKJV. The wording is close enough that it allows meaningful comparison in English between the Hebrew and Greek Old Testaments. While the NKJV isn't my favorite translation, it works well here because the NKJV is less likely than other translations to replace Hebrew readings with those from the Septuagint, allowing more opportunity for comparison. In contrast, the NETS translation of the Septuagint is based on the NRSV, which itself includes readings from the Septuagint. The NETS, by the way, can be downloaded for free as individual books of the Old Testament in PDF format. The OSB also includes translations of most of the Apocrypha included in Catholic Bibles, with the exceptions of 4 Maccabees and 2 Esdras (2 Ezra in the OSB is what's just called "Ezra" in Catholic and Protestant Bibles). For anyone that finds the Septuagint interesting, particularly in the context of its influence on the New Testament, I recommend the (unfortunately not on sale) book When God Spoke Greek: The Septuagint and the Making of the Christian Bible by Timothy Michael Law. The Orthodox Study Bible at Christianbook, eBooks.com, Kobo, Google, B&N and Amazon. If someone needs a cheap NKJV ebook to go along with it, the NKJV edition of The Foundation Study Bible is also on sale for $2.99. |

There's a pretty broad collection of study Bibles on sale right now. While most have been posted to Mobileread as sales before, several are new.
First, the three new ones: NIV God's Justice: The Holy Bible: The Flourishing of Creation and the Destruction of Evil is $1.99. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon I have to say that I am disappointed in the God's Justice Bible. The stated purpose of this Bible is to expand on topics of social justice that can be found in the Bible. Unfortunately, it steers clear of anything that would be considered politically challenging, which includes most topics for which someone might seek Biblical guidance! If you're looking for commentary that roundly denounces slavery or child labor, topics agreed upon across the political spectrum, then you're covered. If you also want Biblical discussion of contemporary social issues that aren't necessarily settled, though, like treatment of women and the economically underprivileged, you'll have to look elsewhere. NIV Life Connect Study Bible: Growing Deeper, Growing Stronger in Your Spiritual Life is $2.99. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon NIV Foundation Study Bible is $3.99. The Foundation Study Bible has been posted to Mobileread before, but in the KJV and NKJV versions. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon In addition to the new ones, there are several repeats that are old favorites. If you're looking for an e-collection of study Bibles for less than the price of a single hardcover, here you go: The NIV Study Bible is $3.99. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon The NKJV Study Bible is $2.99. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon The NIV Study Bible and NKJV Study Bible are hands-down my two favorite conservative study Bibles. Whenever I want Scripture commentary, I check both of these first. The NIV Zondervan Study Bible is $3.99. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon The NKJV edition of the Blackaby Study Bible is $3.99. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon The NASB edtion of The MacArthur Study Bible is $4.99. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon I'm not a huge fan of MacArthur (I find his commentary narrow and his conclusions are sometimes theologically dubious), but Lockman's NASB ebook has terrible formatting and lacks footnotes. If you want a tolerable NASB for your ereader, I recommend snagging this one. The NIV, Quickview Bible is $1.99. Christianbook eBooks.com B&N Kobo Amazon The Quickview Bible isn't a study Bible as such, but it does have amusing, USA Today-style infographics sprinkled through it. At $1.99, it's also the cheapest that you're likely to ever find the NIV. Those are the ones that I consider worthy of specific mention, but there are still a few more. Here's Christianbook's listing of all ebook Bibles that are on sale. I'm pretty sure that all of them will be on sale at other vendors as well. |

Justo Gonzales's The Story of Christianity: Volume 1: The Early Church to the Dawn of the Reformation is available for $1.99.
The second volume is available for $13.49. Eh. Luther is overrated. I'll join with my Catholic brothers and sisters to protest high prices. |

This month's free Logos book is none other than the Romans volume of the Anchor Yale Bible. In case someone isn't familiar with the AYB, each volume is a translation and commentary by a genuine expert. If you don't already have a Logos account, this book alone is worth creating one. If you don't care to download the PC software or mobile app, you can still read the book online at biblia.com.
The commentary discusses the theology and textual issues of each verse in excruciating detail. The $80 hardcover is 793 pages. In all seriousness, my breath caught when I saw this month's freebie. If you're willing to spend another $5, there are two add-on books this month, both of which are other volumes of the Anchor Yale Bible, Habakkuk for $1.99 and Galatians for $2.99. These aren't standard ebooks and "The Tools" won't liberate them, but as far as I know, Logos is the only source of electronic editions of these books. I normally refuse to buy any such books, but I'm setting aside my principles today. If you're creating an account anyway, you might as well grab the free Verbum book, Augustine of HIppo's Faith and Works. Verbum is Logos's Catholic-oriented site, but books bought there appear in your Logos account, software and apps. |

A bunch of stuff that I found while browsing around Amazon.com. All books were $1.99.

Dallas Willard Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life In God. Thomas Merton Wisdom of the Desert Fathers. Several other Merton books had similar pricing. C. S. Lewis The Great Divorce. Paul Lewis Metzger Connecting Christ: How to Discuss Jesus in a World of Diverse Paths. David Limbaugh Finding Jesus in the Old Testament. Last edited by Fluribus; 10-06-2017 at 08:30 PM. |

The translation it uses is the NRSV and it includes notes on the apocryphal books. Whether you consider this to be a good or bad thing, be aware that the study notes follow modern Bible scholarship rather than inerrantist theology. If you're looking for a study Bible that doesn't assume that Moses wrote Genesis or that Paul wrote Titus, this one's for you. It's also $1.99 at the other major players: eBooks.com Kobo Barnes & Noble It's still full price at Christianbook, but maybe it will drop. |

In exchance for some "opinions", Crossway will give you a digital (epub, mobi or PDF) copy of Why the Reformation Still Matters by Michael Reeves and Tim Chester.
I used the scare quotes because this is totally an advertising push poll. "How many Bibles do you own," followed by "would you be interested in" four different ESV Bibles, two that exist now and two that will be available in a few months. As advertising, it worked on me, since I didn't know about any of the four. None of them have digital editions yet, but now I'll watch. No email address or other identification needed. Answer a few questions, then click the links at the end. Crossway's "opinion" poll for the free book. |
