Glo HD newest firmware drain battery??

My Glo HD firmware got updated automatically yesterday hence the new homescreen etc. But I notice after the update the battery drain so fast. I lost 13% in 3 hours while in sleeping mode.

Plan to do a downgrade. Any suggestion which old firmware is the best? Because my previous one has reading life counter bug

Before downgrading, try turning the device off and on again. If you look, there seems to be extra power usage just after a firmware upgrade. Restarting the device seems to solve this in a lot of cases.

I did actually. Firmware got updated when my battery was around 70%. Then at night before sleep I checked 36% so I turned it off. Next day I charged it full, put it to sleep mode and put it in my bag. 3 hours later I take it out from the bag only 87% left

I also have a Glo HD and haven't seen any battery drain issue since updating to 4.4.9344. Maybe do a factory reset and update again?

Turn off auto-sync if it's on and turn off WiFi if it's on. Those things will keep the battery lasting longer. Oh and don't turn up the light too bright or keep it on even when you don't need it.

Sync was off and light was 0%. And it was in sleeping mode yet still lost 13% in just few hours. Dowgraded the firmware and all better now. Too bad because I love the disable brightness swipe option on the new firmware

What version did you downgrade to? The 3.20.x to 4.1.x have issues. I can't remember for 4.2.x, but I don't remember problems with 4.3.x. People are reporting issues with 4.4.x, but I can't decide for myself if I am seeing anything. My usage pattern and when I connect don't really lend themselves to judging these sort of changes.

I use 4.2.8432 now. Used 4.3.x before but book and reading hours counter were messed up. It bothers me to see 0 finished books with 11.000 read hours. So i try 4.2.x now

Yes, if the reading stats were important, then you wanted to skip 4.3.x. My comment before was just thinking about battery life.

And strangely enough, 4.3.x did keep the overall reading hours correct in the database. But, each time you finished a book, it increased the number displayed by a silly number. If you restarted the device, it would reread the database and show the correct number.

4.3.x show correct number only for a while after restart. Each time I finish a book the counter will be messed up again.

I also notice counter system in 4.2.x and 4.4.x is different.

In 4.2.x counter only count the book that you open then swipe until finish 100%. While in 4.4.x count the book we mark directly as finished (without opening the book first)

My counter was 51 on 4.2.x then change to 163 on 4.4.x

Yes, that is correct. The in-memory calculation was messed up. But, the correct values were stored. Each time you restarted, the correct number was displayed. When you finished a book, the calculation was wrong and the new number was wrong. Restart, and everything was OK.

Effectively, that is the difference, but what is happening is different. When a book is finished, that is recorded as an event and the book gets the status set to finished. When you mark a book as finished, the status is set, but the event is not added.

The pre-4.4.x version counted the finished events. The 4.4.x version counts the books with the status of finished. The "percent finished in your library" has always been the latter.1

So the battery drain is actually happening now to my Glo HD (firmware: 4.4.9344). I had the pin setting on, and it stayed in sleep mode without powering off after 15 mins like it normally does. Battery down to 16% now. Was at 95% when put to sleep mode at 6pm yesterday.

similar with me, lost 13% on sleeping mode in few hours. All good after I downgraded the firmware though, on 79% currently since last charged it 30th May

Did you know which firmware version allow glo HD to download epub from dropbox folder or email through browser? I clicked download, the screen flashed once then nothing happened

Sorry, I don't know. I don't use either. But, I thought dropbox works if you select the right version of their site.
