And the Gold Box Deal of the Day today at Kindle US is 30 mysteries and thrillers for $3.99 or less. It's a pretty random selection - a fair number of first-in-series titles, but also some later titles. And at quick glance, there seems to be only one title in any series. Thirty books are too many to list here, but a few authors I noted (based on my own personal tastes) include: Louise Penny, Jacqueline Winspear, Ann Cleeves, Arnaldur Indridason, Jason Goodwin, Ausma Zehanat Khan and Laurie R King. Also keep in mind that some of these titles have been on sale for less, and might go on sale for less in the future.

Over the last couple of months, the first two titles in Stuart Kaminsky's short 3-book CSI New York series have each dropped briefly to $0.99. Now the third book, Deluge, has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. I've never read any of Kaminsky's CSI titles, but have read and enjoyed a few in some of his other series.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000QCTPPI
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/deluge-5

Spoiler:
Quote:
Days and nights of heavy spring rain threaten to cripple New York City. Neighborhoods are experiencing periodic blackouts. People have been reported electrocuted by fallen power lines. Flooding of some subway lines has stopped trains in their tracks. And in the midst of the deluge, the CSI team has three cases to solve.

Mac Taylor and Don Flack are on the trail of the perpetrator of a string of grisly murders with one thing in common: initials carved into the victims' bodies. When an unusual connection is found between the victims' lives, Mac realizes the killer isn't finished -- not by a long shot.

Lindsay Monroe and Danny Messer investigate the death of a teacher at an exclusive Manhattan private school. The victim seems like everyone's favorite teacher on the surface -- but they soon uncover a darker secret lurking beneath.

Stella Bonasera and Sheldon Hawkes are on-site at a suspicious building collapse when shifting rubble traps Hawkes in a deep pit with a mysterious stranger. Tensions rise as their oxygen starts to run out....

The intrepid members of New York's crack forensic team must race against time and the elements to bring three very different criminals to justice.

Note: The first book in the series, Dead of Winter, has also dropped again in price, but to $1.99, not $0.99. Still, if you missed it the first time, you might be interested. Links in this post are still good: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh....php?p=3739084

Three titles in Reed Farrel Coleman's continuation of Robert B. Parker's Jesse Stone series have dropped to £1.89 or £1.99 at Kindle UK. I've read a couple of these continuation titles and enjoyed them.

Don't know, Zod. Hammett and Chandler are usually more expensive than the other oldies.

Speaking of Hammett, here's the lowest price I've seen for The Maltese Falcon - $4.00.

Something seems off there too. Here's the link to The Maltese Falcon sold by Black Lizard/Vintage Crime: It's $11.99

The one you linked to was just listed on July 8.

Sadly both of these books by Hammett and Chandler are from Canada’s Public Domain site pgdpcanada. If you preview the books and scroll to the top you will see the Distributed Proofreaders Canada eBook statement. IMHO a third party seller is using Amazon to profit from a freely distributed book in Canada but still under copyrite in the US.

Duel to the Death is the 13th and most recent (2018) in the Ali Reynolds series by JA Jance. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Nice to see such a price drop on a most-recent-in-series title.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074ZJP3BT
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/duel-to-the-death

Spoiler:
Quote:
The New York Times bestselling author J.A. Jance returns with the thirteenth pulse-pounding thriller in the “engaging and entertaining” (Los Angeles Times) Ali Reynolds series.

After taking down the man responsible for his best friend’s death, Stuart Ramey believes the case is finally closed. That is, until Stu discovers he’s been left with a multimillion dollar fortune in Bitcoin in a desperate attempt by Frigg, a rogue A.I. program created by the killer, to keep itself from being fully deactivated.

To take Frigg down for good, Stu enlists the help of Ali Reynolds and the rest of his cyber security colleagues at High Noon Enterprises. But they are not the only ones who know about Frigg’s existence.

Graciella Miramar, an unassuming accountant to all appearances, is actually the right-hand woman to El Pescado, the leader of a dangerous drug cartel. She’ll do anything to get her hands on that program. With Frigg’s help, Graciella hopes to take over El Pescado’s criminal underworld and become wealthy beyond her wildest dreams. But Stu—and El Pescado and his henchmen—may not be so easily defeated.

As the “grand master of the game” (The Providence Journal), J.A. Jance crafts another electrifying thriller that shows that everything has its price.

The occasional random Edward Marston titles for £1.90 at Kindle UK seem to have become the random Edward Marston titles for £0.95 . The Devil's Apprentice is the second Marston title to recently show up at £0.95 - link below is still good.
