Calibre takes 10 min to open

Hi folks, I have a large library on an external 2tg disk (not ssd) and every time I open that library it takes 10 min to open.
What should I check or is it specific to the storage or the size of the library?

calibre does not read library files on open, only metadata.db do a bit of searching you will find many tips to speed it up, such as excluding the library folder from antivirus, notusing template based custom columns, hiding the tag browser, etc.

Remember, the size of the books (or dive) has no bearing on opening.
Calibre reads the DB (this can get quite large), calculates any custom fields, icons... before it can display . Less (calculations) is more speed.

If you have Grid or Cover browser enabled, then it has to fetch and render the thumbnails. Off is faster

And remember the temp folder is used for throw away (after the session)
Whitelist the Library folder (all books should have been scanned before import).
How is your RAM % usage (task manager), tight, might force swapping other things out. Speaking of SWAP. make sure it is on the fastest drive and not your USB one

Compacting the database will get rid of deleted entries and may speed up loading the database.

Thanks, I reviewed the topic of custom columns, since in that library they are not necessary and I improve the opening.
