Carroll, Lewis: Complete Works (Illustrated) | v.1.3 | Update 12 Jun 2016
This volume collects the complete fictional writings of Lewis Carroll (1832–1898, Wikipedia), all with their original illustrations.
Novels » Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. (Illustrated by John Tenniel) » Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. (Illustrated by John Tenniel) » Sylvie and Bruno. (Illustrated by Harry Furniss) » Sylvie and Bruno Concluded. (Illustrated by Harry Furniss) Stories » A Tangled Tale. (Illustrated by Arthur B. Frost) » Bruno’s Revenge and Other Stories. » What the Tortoise Said to Achilles. Poems » Early Verse. » Puzzles from Wonderland. » Prologues to Plays. » Rhyme? And Reason? (Illustrated by Arthur B. Frost & Henry Holiday) » College Rhymes and Notes by an Oxford Chiel. » Acrostics, Inscriptions and Other Verses. » Three Sunsets and Other Poems. (Illustrated by E. Gertrude Thomson) For the novels I have used, with his kind permission, Jellby’s glorious proof-read versions, the other texts come from Gutenberg and other sources. I have checked and corrected the formatting by comparing it to the print editions. Quotes are curly, the footnotes are active, and fonts are embedded for small caps, swash drop caps, and playing card suits. The collection comes with inline tables of contents and links after each text/chapter which lead back to the respective tables. The 285 illustrations make this volume quite big, but it didn’t seem to make sense to leave them out. And of course some of the texts are available in Jellby’s single-volume editions (Alice, Looking Glass, Sylvie and Bruno). Best, pynch. Update v.1.1 | 18 Dec 2012. Corrected the embedded fonts for support of the newly displayed ligatures in ADE and fixed some mistakes in ‘What the Tortoise Said to Achilles’. Update v.1.2 | 5 Jun 2016. I have proofed the books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking-Glass, A Tangled Tale, Rhyme? And Reason?, and Three Sunsets against the first editions, and most of the texts of Bruno’s Revenge and the sections “Early Verse,” “Puzzles from Wonderland,” “Prologues to Plays,” “College Rhymes,” and “Acrostics” against The Complete Works of Lewis Carroll, Random House 1920. Thousands of mistakes and variants were corrected. Update v.1.3 | 12 Jun 2016. I have proofed Sylvie and Bruno, Sylvie and Bruno Concluded, and “What the Tortoise Said to Achilles” against the first editions. Hundreds of mistakes and variants were corrected. Update v.1.1 | 18 Dec 2012.
Corrected the embedded fonts for support of the newly displayed ligatures in ADE and fixed some mistakes in ‘What the Tortoise Said to Achilles’. A big thanks to Mironsch for reporting them, and another big thanks to Mmat1 for the assistance with identifying what the problem with the fonts was!

The rest will follow, or at least most of it: I don’t really know the origin of some acrostics (which were sourced from the Delphi edition) or if Bruno’s Revenge and Other Stories was a ‘legitimate’ publication. I hope to find out more when I discover a decent bibliography. |
