Sorry, the only thing I can think of is that it is problem with the port. What, I don't know, but the need to hold the plug in a specific position really says it can't be anything else.

As it won't connect to the PC, there isn't much you can do. Maybe open the device and check were the USB port is mounted. Other than that, it is factory reset time.

Of course, if it is a physical problem, then it might be warranty return time.

I've had to Warranty return it twice, maybe they'll let me do it again...
