Yes, and Harry Connick Jr. reacted just as I would have to that minstrel show. 40 years ago I visited Australia, and while there dated an Aborigine. The stares we got were undisguised in their disgust. I've never received those kind of stares here in the states when going places with my son's African-American ex-girlfriend. Of course, things have changed here in the past 40 years, so perhaps things have changed there as well.

Although this is an egregious error, it is a rarer error type than the type of errors usually seen. I'm reading the new David Weber novel (in hardcover) from Tor and the first error I spotted was the use of flour for flow.

Aussies have a long history of carefully ignoring inconvenient 'facts'. We never had slavery like the terrible Americans - we only had blackbirding, which was completely different because the people were paid a bit and sometimes even allowed to go home at the end of their contracts.

We're the least racist folk on earth. And if those nasty indigenous folks reckon any different, they can stir themselves out of their slums and tell me in person. After having a shower.
