I am new to the post and really struggled to post this (much less get it in the right place).
Anyway, I bought a new Fire tablet to replace an older one and the new one is not recognized at all by Calibre.
The old one still connects seamlessly and I cannot figure out what the problem is with the new one.

The " 'storage': []," line in your post says that there no available storage on your Kindle Fire. Are you sure it is is MTP mode and not USB charging mode? Can you see the storage on your Kindle Fire in Windows File Explorer?
