Sigil 0.3.0RC1
Here's the new 0.3.0RC1 release. More information can be found here.
EDIT: Oops messed up the filenames. Stand by. EDIT2: Files with the correct "RC1" version suffix have now been uploaded. Last edited by Valloric; 10-08-2010 at 11:29 AM. |

Hi Valloric,
Very Nice Job! The speed improvement on Mac OSX 10.6 especially when working with one huge html file are truly amazing. No visible delay in loading even huge files and no problems using find and replace to insert chapter break markers and breaking things further. Very very nice job! I assume you built a universal app with 64bit support under Mac OSX since I only saw one Sigil.app in the dmg. From your wording in the above post, I almost expected to see 2 different apps in the dmg (one for 64 bit). I will keep playing around with it over the next few days and let you know how things work out. Given this new version and your new epub validator, now all we need is a spell checker to make things quite complete (and allow me to get away from OpenOffice completely in my work flow). Thanks! Valloric, just noticed, if I extract the archive, the actual contents are encoded correctly and aren't 'garbled'.
If that helps? |

If I use TweakEpub to open the epub-archive and the edit each of the *.html files and change the xml definition lines from utf-16 back to utf-8, then save them, the epub then opens up correctly.

The problem has been fixed. The build system is building all the installers, DMGs etc and that takes a while. Expect RC2 in a couple of hours.

Yes, I simply used a sed script with 's/utf-16/utf-8/g' and automated it and re-zipped it and all is good. Thanks for the tip. KevinH |

I already rolled back tp 2.4 and restored the damages was really really really really fast compared to 2.4. BTW some remnant of the un-install affected Calibre 7.22 (been stable for me), Crashed when retrieving from device (where I got the replacement for the Damaged epub). Rebooted so far so good |

"Sigil now uses "application/x-font-ttf" as the media type in the OPF for TrueType fonts (issue #609) "
It's not critical, but it seems that the IDPF is moving towards standardising "application/vnd.ms-opentype" for both .otf and .ttf files. See http://www.daisy.org/epub/issues/mis...ype-font-files. |

As I understand it, they only recommend it for .otf, and say that .ttf can be packaged (converted) into .otf. But I don't know enough about font formats, could it be that the .ttf can be just renamed to .otf?

"application/x-font-ttf" is the de facto standard as a TTF MIME. See this issue on the FlightCrew tracker for a rationale. Even ISO/IEC 29500-1:2006 (OOXML) uses it, and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC34 recognizes it as the "unofficial" standard. |
