Help with renaming for "send to device"
Sorry, but I appear to be a total idiot when it comes to coding this stuff. Have searched the forums and the Calibre manual but am still stumped.
I'd like my books to be exported to my device (TouchPad) with the format "Title - Author - isbn - locations.mobi." I have created the ISBN and Locations columns in the book browser. This is the latest template I've tried: {title} - {authors} - {identifiers:select(isbn)} - {identifiers:select(locations)} But instead of showing "61 Hours - Lee Child - 9780440296508 - 5385.mobi" it just exports "61 Hours - Lee Child.mobi" Any tips? Again, sorry for my ignorance. |

I'm doing all this, BTW, in the "Send To Device" preference pane. (Just making sure I'm in the right place.) |

The template you used is correct, but it is not being used. If it were, then you would see the dashes even if the identifier fields were empty.
Check that there is not an overriding template in the device driver. Preferences -> plugins -> devices -> apple. |

Yeh, good point. But I figured if I wasn't using the plugins, maybe it would make Calibre a little leaner? Anyway, the Apple plugin didn't specify a template ... but I just discovered the WebOS plugin in did. So I swapped it out with my template lines (above), and at least now I'm getting the dashes. So, the template now is being read correctly, but my coding must be off.

STOP THE PRESSES! We have success. I had to change the "Save to Device" template and the webOS plug-in to this, and now it's perfect. Thanks, guys, for all the help!
