video playback
Hi,
I converted some video today specifically for an android device. Yet the video playback is spotty-sync problems and video halt. I thought the edge could handle mp4. Am I missing something? What have you guys experienced wih video playback? Thanks? |

That's pretty well par for the course for Android, at least version 1.6 we're using on the eDGe. The problem with MP4 is there's effectively a lot of variation with respect to resolution and bit rate. The eDGe seems to have problems handling 720p and 1080p, but work just great with 480p.
Try converting the video targetting the iPod - one user reported consistently good results doing that. Also, others might suggest doing the playback with the screen rotated 90 degrees (i.e., landscape). My own experiments with MP4's suggest that the resolution/bit rate seems to be more of the key. |

I would echo what borisb said.
I have had no trouble playing mp4s. I transferred video from my TiVo to my laptop, then converted the video for apple iPod. I saved that to USB, popped it in the eDGe, and everything played fine (though a tiny bit grainy). I had no video halt or sync problems. Though, now that I reread my post, I'm intrigued that I only use technology with non-standard capitalization. |

Thanks, guys.
Well, I converted the material using the IPAD/IPHONE setting, and, still, video stops. I'll try using the classic IPOD setting. |

How far in did the stop occur? I must admit that I only watched about the first 5 minutes or so of my videos prior to making the post. Those 5 minutes, though, worked flawlessly.

You may want to try going deeper into the vids. Mine stop between half and 3/4 of the way through. I'm currently converting for the classic IPOD. I'll post the results.
Thanks |

thorne, if you wouldn't mind, could you submit a ticket to www.entourageedge.com/support. We would be glad to help, thanks!

I called support, and the rep recommended using the classic IPOD setting on the coverter I'm using. If that doesn't work, he advised I try handbreak, a coverter he uses with success.
I'll report my findings. Thanks. |
