Also the new reader is much slower than the old one, both when opening a new book and when scrolling. You can see the spinning wheel all the time, while it's rarely noticeable in the old reader. About the GUI. The system and calibre style look almost the same with the new GUI. I much prefer the old system style, with the grey bars barely noticeable. They're much too pronounced and distracting with the new GUI. Well yes, it's nitpicking, but still... I miss the old system style look. |

Yes, the beta will run all your plugins. Unless your plugin embedded a web browser for some reason. (Since the existing one, called "WebKit", is now gone, and replaced by a different one that needs different code.)
How many plugins do that, do you suppose? |

Status Bar Messages
Hi, Kovid.
I've wrote a GUI plugin that shows a couple of messages on the status bar. With 3.47.1, everything works fine. Now, with 3.99.2, messages were not showing. First, I was using this: Code:
self.gui.status_bar.showMessage(_("Connecting to Skoob...")) login_status = self.skoob_login() self.gui.status_bar.clearMessage() Code:
self.gui.status_bar.showMessage(_("Connecting to Skoob...")) QApplication.processEvents(QtCore.QEventLoop.ExcludeUserInputEvents) login_status = self.skoob_login() self.gui.status_bar.clearMessage() QApplication.processEvents(QtCore.QEventLoop.ExcludeUserInputEvents) |

Was the comments missing in the book details panel solved? I set it to horizontal after vertical didn't show them. Still not showing them. Tried looking up the "floating" option in look and feel and couldn't find it. I do know that it is floating -when it was in vertical-not sure if that option was removed when I set it to horizontal. Either way, no comments in the panel.
Running 3.99.2.msi |

Also, is there (or was there) a way of showing the font used in the book in the viewer (not the name of the font, but the font itself)? Helps to see if the fonts are showing up in the book.

Were we able to edit the comments in the book details page? Can't now.

Not sure if the "System Default" instead of "Calibre Style" was always kind of "blocky" or "rough" looking. It looks like when you have Windows advanced settings set for adjusting for best performance.
Calibre Style looks like it's set for best appearance. |

I see "Webkit" all the time in the bugs reports. Is that the same?

Lol! You guys need to update the "Demo" on the download site. Version 0.8.0 is much different than today's versions.

The text in the book details panel looks weirdly spaced, compared to the old version. I've attached two screenshots, the first is the old Calibre, the second is the beta.
