High today was 97°F and it's currently 80 at 11:00 PM and my air conditioner died this morning. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 95 and Tuesday 92. We're getting a new one on Tuesday and the only way I got that scheduled is because I have a medical condition where I need air conditioning.
There is a wall air conditioner in my family room that hasn't been turned on since we moved in in 2002. That's giving some cooling, but not much because the family room is a huge addition on the back of the house. I'm currently at a hotel. |

Yesterday we hit 100º. Today we only got to about 98º but it was more humid and there was no breeze. And no relief from the sun. The mosquitoes were hovering in place, waiting for someone to walk into them.
It's supposed to be pretty much like this through the week. We might get a break from the heat over the weekend (when the thunderstorms are expected to hit) and then back up to blazing heat next week. It's a good time to read in the basement. |

The Emerald City beckons y'all. Lows this week range from 52-58F with highs hitting 66-79F. It's a veritable heat wave around here

It's been warm here, 75F to 86F (and in the city center it can easily get hotter than that), for the almost a week now. And looking at the predictions it'll stay that way for a while, still. So far we've been lucky that at night temperatures drop to 50F to 59F and the last couple of night the wind direction was just right, so my bedroom cooled down nicely during the night. During the day I keep the windows closed and curtains drawn and won't open them until it's cooler outside than inside.

Unfortunately I'm stuck her for a little bit. I texted hubby that I was here and he's supposed to get a tablet delivered on Thursday that needs a signature. He was able to switch it to today between 12:30 and 1:00. I just realized he's working from home tomorrow to be here when the air conditioner will be installed, so I don't know why he couldn't have had it delivered then. |

I hate warm nights, when you feel there's no escaping the heat. So far the warm spell it hasn't been humid, like it normally is. In fact it's very dry, the last time it properly rained was almost a month ago. I think because it isn't humid it isn't too bad for me.

As to the actual weather. it is 97F in the shade on my porch right now. The heat index is currently 103F. If you smell roasting chicken - its probably poohbear_nc down the road. |
