Reading Books

Hi - I bought two Kobo Arcs for my two boys.
We took a holiday to Las Vegas and they wanted to read their ebooks on the plane. They are preloaded with epub books.
Both Kobos could not access the Kobo Reader saying that they could not access the internet. So the Kobo Arcs were useless to them on the trip.
When we go to the hotel we tried them again with WiFi and they were able to read the books.
When we got home they were able to again read
Is this normal. I didn't realize that they required internet to read books????
I have checked the internet and, nowhere does it say They need internet.
Do our Kobos have a problem?

You need to have 'Net access in order to download the books in the first place to the Kobo app. Once the books have been downloaded (which is different than just being in your library), you should be able to read them without the 'Net active.

You can try a non-Kobo app like moon reader or cool reader to read sideloaded epubs.
