Calibre on Acer Chromebook?

(SOLVED) hello does anyone know how to install Calibre on an Acer chromebook please?
I go to Linux terminal and paste in the calibre commands to install it but it keeps asking for a password and evidently it should not be a sing for a password?

You will need to use Crostini (Linux for ChromeOS) if your Acer chromebook supports it. Even then, there are ongoing issues with USB support for connecting an ereader. A Google search should find you more information. You can also check this thread from last year: Calibre on Chromebook Linux for some information, issues, etc.

Depending on the size of your local storage, this may be a pretty useless task.

You don't need crostini, ChromeOS is Linux (Gentoo)
But you have to compile Calibre yourself.

Even if you do compile it there are still issues relating to USB support.

i know it might be a silly question but if its a linux os can i not just download the linux version of calibre?

It all depends on the cpu in your Chromebook. Kovid's builds are for Intel architecture

If you do find problem(s) with USB, I suggest getting a Windows 10 laptop.

i found linux beta and installed it,i then copied the terminal command and hit enter but it is asking for a password but it did not ask me to setup a password when i installed it?

Which linux beta?
Normally you have to create a password during install.
