Lightbulb Porting evince to Irex 800/1000

Hello

As you know Irex gone and no one can fix/change UDS viewer.
What you think about porting evince to IREX and use it as standard PDF/DJVU viewer.
Maybe also add plug-in support, to use existed IDS plug-ins?

Sincerely
Yura

Evince is not a good candidate because is too tied with GNOME infrastructure.
It would be better to start with a plain gtk+ application like epdfview [1].

Another option is to improve techpdf [2], a native pdf viewer GregorRichards wrote here.

But in both cases the program would be based on poppler library, and as DR1000 v1.x users could explain, is slower than adobe libs-based UDS.

Sorry, I feel a bit negative today... ;-)

I had the cross-compiler hot... so here you have a quick & dirty compilation of epdfview v0.1.8 for the DRs.

It was very easy to build.
It feels quite slow on the emulator, and didn't load correctly all the .pdf I've checked.

I can be wrong, but I think adobe mobile API requires to pay something to them.
New poppler are not faster.

Note that the poppler version used by the old firmware was patched (i.e. use smaller bitmap depth) probably to limit memory usage. So if trying to use a newer version, also take over those patches.
