kobo glo hd
I am after one of these, and according to the info on interweb it is no longer available - "discontinued"
and yet... when I go on:
http://books.rakuten.co.jp/event/e-b...ers/koboglohd/
they seem to be available and for quite a reasonable price, even when one accounts for duties etc.

They also show on e**y for sale from Japan.

So what's the deal?
Does anybody know why it is available in Japan, but not in the rest of the world?
I am tempted to get one directly from Japan, but that would mean no warranty and no chance of returning if anything goes wrong? (or can I get support for it here in UK from Kobo/Rakuten if I buy it in Japan?)

Because it is only 212 ppi (instead of 300 ppi).
I may have to go down the route of Kobo Aura Edition 2, but would prefer if possible HD screen

Also, if you're an ebook hoarder, like me, the Kobo Glo HD has a user replaceable memory card that supports micro SDXC cards larger than 8GB.

Did we ever find out why Kobo canceled the Kobo Glo HD? It seems crazy that the only current Kobo 6-inch E Ink device is the Kobo Aura edition 2, with just 212 dpi, when the comparable Kindle, the PaperWhite 3, is 300 dpi.
