Am I where I want to be?
I'm interested in OCR book scanning. I have a small online publishing company and have access to many old, out-of-print books that I think might have some mileage left in them if I were able to scan, re-edit, reformat, and spruce them up a bit.
I don't know the first thing about OCR book scanning other than that it is not too difficult for someone who's intelligent and willing to devote some time and effort to doing it right. I'd appreciate recommendations re flatbed scanners and OCR software for my PC. I'd also appreciate suggestions about issues that I need to be aware of re scanning and editing text created by OCR software. What questions haven't I asked that I should have asked? I'm retired and living on a meagre pension. I also do copyediting and proofreading for a modest fee. I'm very, very good, i.e., capable. I might also be good, but that's for God to decide. Thanks. |
