I already have calibre on my laptop (windows 64 version) I have purchased an HDD for a variety of reasons, I would like to run 2 different libraries and presumed that calibre portal was the correct way to do it, I have installed calibre portable on to my HDD. (was this the correct calibre to have used, I only be using it on computer's using windows)
Can I import my library from my calibre on my laptops calibre, to the calibre portable. I tried copying the library from calibre on the laptop and posting it into the calibre on the HDD but when I opened the calibre portable it had not worked I apologise if this has been asked and answered, I did search for this on the forum but could not find any answers that suited me Last edited by amanda138a; 04-25-2016 at 08:53 AM. The Location of the Libraries only matters:
1) Not in the Cloud or on a Networked share. (must be local) 2) Must be in a specific location if you want PORTABLE to remember and use again. Portable can access any Library that meets rule 1 3) Calibre (the installed Version) can use any rule 1 Library ![]() |

Calibre and Calibre Portable can share libraries. Any library you want Calibre Portable to access should be in a subfolder of the Calibre Portable folder on your external HDD.
You may need to use the Switch Between Libraries feature in order to find the library in either Calibre or Calibre Portable. Also, are you sure you even need Calibre Portable? I use it myself, but from your description it sounds like you think you need it in order to maintain multiple libraries. This is not the case. Regular Calibre can handle multiple libraries just fine. |
