Additional Information: Red the First is a revised and expanded version of a story that won an honorable mention in the prestigious Writers of the Future contest. This stand-alone novel is the prequel to Promised Land: A Galatia Novel, book one of an epic fantasy spin off.

The paperback version just came out this week.

Not at all. From the beginning, the story felt like it should be a full-length novel. However, the contest was for a short story. Keeping it below a certain word count was the hard part. Thanks for asking.

This is a stand-alone book. However, the Galatia Series spins off from it, so I also call it a Prequel. It's still enrolled in KU.
