I've read specifications for decades to design electronic gear. An analogue connection is not a USB connection simply because it's in the USB spec. Audio Accessory mode, not USB Audio mode. Not many things support it as it's an option.

I believe common people would consider the USB Audio Accessory to be one of the USB mode. I am not an EE and thus don't know what you guys use in your profession, but that's just going to cause confusion with laypeople, much like how WiFi router also meant just the standard access points without routing capabilities too.

Accessory mode is just an analogue connection using the USB connector instead of a 3.5mm or 2.5mm or 1/4" jack. USB Audio is always a data mode, digital.

Analogue uses a direct varying voltage and the driven device can be purely electro-mechanical. Doesn't need any electronics or software.

Digital on USB uses serial digital data and a protocol stack. The data can mean different things. You can even interleave the data for different applications on the one digital serial transmission. USB Audio is one of many purely digital serial data modes on USB.

I am not talking about WiFi side of the device. I am talking about the routing part of the device. Even pure WiFi access points without routing capabilities are called "WiFi Router" by laypeople, and being pedantic about the term is just not productive.

The same things applies to whatever you are doing with USB Audio Accessory Mode.

A USB connection is, by definition, what's in the spec. If you have the experience you say you should know that. This whole conversation is surreal so I'm just going to leave the thread now.

In case you are still reading, I am pretty sure that by USB connection they meant USB Protocol. The actual specification on how the signal from mouse/keyboars/etc looks like in the cable itself. The Audio Accessory mode isn't part of this -- it's more of the part of the specification of USB port rather than the USB Protocol.

(Note: this is a gross simplification)
