open launch koreader along with pdf

I want to open PDFs with koreader without launching koreader first. basically, I want to press a title in my default kobo library an have it open with koreader. I remember there being something on the kindle that did this. is it possible with kobo/nickel?

Maybe a silly idea, but perhaps the same mechanism that triggers an alternative app by watching a PNG file, could trigger it for any pdf.

Really expensive, but then again..

Yeah, it's technically "feasible", but it's a really, really, really bad idea

That worked on Kindle because we live on top of the stock system (and we have hooks to actually interact with the Library for this specific purpose). Even then, that mechanism was a massive PITA to maintain (and is, in fact, currently broken and unmaintained).

So, yeah, no, not happening
