Old bug: Device takes many button swipes to sleep

Hi guys,

I've had this bug for at least 2 good years that basically manifests in the inability to sleep at the first button slide: the device goes to sleep (changes the screen to the "Sleeping" screen) and goes back where it was.

The amount of button swipes it takes to get it to sleep is random, actually since the previous firmware version I've noticed that sometimes the reader freezes but a button swipe would unfreeze it without even showing the sleep screen.

Is it known? Does it have a fix/workaround? I've done a couple of searches in the forum but I haven't hit even someone talking about it. I haven't reported it before because I just found this forum two days ago (All I checked before was /r/kobo )

Thanks!

There is an easy solution. get a sleep cover. All you have to do is close the cover to put your Kobo to sleep. No need to press the button.

Thanks for the obvious solution. I had one but it "broke" (the magnet that kept it close unglued and I lost it) and it wasn't my cup of tea to begin with. I love the size and weight as it is (with a sleep cover it doesn't fit my jean's pocket)

Besides, good luck finding a sleep cover for a 2013 Kobo Aura, don't you think?

Awelxtr,

I found this one on Amazom UK:
Navitech Kobo Case - rose Kobo Aura 2013

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Navitech-Ko...8&sr=8-2-fkmr2

Apologies for the crude insert of the link, I cannot find how to do hyperlinks on this site.

Maybe the switch needs cleaning. It's just a contact after all.
There are some spays for cleaning electrical contacts that you may use...

Don't out your Aura in any pants pocket ever. Even with a case. It's a good way to break it. Taking your Aura out and about without a case is a really bad idea.

The sleep cover is the solution. Carrying in your pants pocket without a cover is very bad.

Are you sure that's a sleep cover? Doesn't say anywhere that it is.

I haven't found covers with the sleep cover function for the Kobo Aura. Kwmobile still had covers available a couple of months ago (I haven't checked now), but they didn't have the sleep cover functionality. I bought one on Aliexpress that was advertised to have it, but the vendor sended me a cover for the Kobo Aura 2. They returned me my money because they had it clearly advertised for the N514 model, and I haven't tried again, I suspect all the covers I found were from the same vendor and they don't have covers for that model, they are just lousy managing their shop and haven't retired the product after going out of stock.
My Kobo Aura sometimes has that problem, but it's occasional not something that always happens, and as it is my backup ereader and not my main reader, for now I can live with it. I suspect the internal plastic piece is fragile and I'll have the same problem in the future.
For now, the few times it has been too stubborn to go to sleep, I've simply closed the cover (I have a cover similar to the one you described) and let it go to sleep when it reaches the time without activity I have selected.
