calibre won't import library?

Folks, I'm trying to transfer my precious library from my old windows 8 machine to my new windows 10 machine. I've followed all the directions on the FAQ site, and it acted like it was importing, until I got the error "Failed to import data". Here's the Show Details info:
calibre, version 2.60.0
ERROR: Failed: Failed to import data. Click "Show Details" for more information.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\dialogs\exim.py", line 137, in run_action
File "site-packages\calibre\utils\exim.py", line 354, in import_data
WindowsError: [Error 5] Access is denied

Can anyone help? Thanks!

That is a file permission error. Does your user on the new machine have read/write permission for both the saved data and the location for the new library?

Sometimes when saving information for transfer to a new computer, people accidentally mess up the permissions on the backup.

Well, I'm not sure what's going on with permissions (I admit I'm still struggling with Windows 10 and where it has moved everything), but I'm the only user on this computer.

However, I solved the problem a different way. I got my new (empty) library set up, made sure my books on the kindle were up-to-date from the old computer, and then used the kindle to transfer the books in. And it's working . . . bottom line is success, however it got achieved . . .
