WebReaderViewer - built in image/frame/string/html viewer for kindle
Today I was playing with kindle commands and I've found this one:
WebReaderViewer It's a nice viewer compatible with different formats, as images or html pages. You can try it with this command: Code:
WebReaderViewer ///mnt/us/images/sample.jpg image or this one for displaying wikipedia.org: Code:
WebReaderViewer http://www.wikipedia.org uri Code:
WebReaderViewer "Hello world!" string Click on the cross symbol or double tap on the screen to close it. General usage: WebReaderViewer contentURL type(string/uri/frame/image) Maybe it could be integrated in some nice apps, like gallery explorers or comics readers. Tested on Kindle PW1. I'd like to know if this command works on Kindle Touch too... Last edited by Aeris; 11-02-2013 at 09:04 AM. |

Little problem: the image viewer works, but the dialog "gallery" stays always on top... any idea for fixing this beahviour? I could close the dialog everytime, but it wouldn't be so handy to reopen the gallery each time you see a single image xD

Considering that build-in image viewer read CBZ it is possible it will work too.

JFI, WebReaderViewer is designed specially for providing "enhanced viewing mode" available for KF8 content in stock reader. This mode has its own section in Kindle User's Guide.

That is really interesting piece of information eureka. Kindle Publishing Guidelines don't say a word about this.

just for fun, I typed "strings `which WebReaderViewer`" and got some neat info...
it seems there is a flag file /mnt/us/MOBI8_DEBUG that it looks for ??? and all the CSS is in there, of course you can't modify it I guess.. just fun to poke around a bit. |

strings something is always source of interesting information. Also, some binaries are just a thin delegating wrappers, so applying strings to libraries is also useful.
