Formerly Unemployed!
I got a new job! I start Monday.
In the beginning of March, 5 days after I turned 60, I was let go from the job I held for the last 25 years. I had almost a year of severance, but what was I going to do? I always intended to end my career there. After months of depression, a cancer scare (thank God it was not) and trying to get hired on as a contractor with my former employer, karma got me a new job! For years, when we needed outside counsel, I hired a woman I know. She moved firms, and every time I did what was necessary to get her on our approved list of outside counsel. Well, she hired me! And I am making twice what I was at my former firm. My husband said "What do I always say? Everything works out in the end" Well, he is married to a pessimist (I think most lawyers are pessimists). Any other unemployment stories that turn out great in the end? |

Need an admin assistant, Sydney's Mom? My neighbor is working at a failing credit union, and worried that her job won't exist much longer. In downtown Chicago, though she lives in the outer suburbs, like me.

Unfortunately, I am working remotely, so I don't get an admin assistant. But good luck to her. Maybe she can get something closer to home?
