Sideload is just connecting the Kobo via USB, responding on the Kobo to the prompt "Connect or cancel".
You'll then see a new drive letter on the PC (might be F). If you use calibre you can then just right click on a book in your library and select "Send to main memory" and bingo it's done. Just eject the device (right click on send to device in main menu and select eject). If you don't use calibre just copy the book via file manager to the device. I'd suggest making a folder called Books on the F drive and copying the books there. Always try to do a clean eject if the device; either from within calibre or from the Windows System tray. When the device has been ejected it should display a message that it's scanning for and processing new content Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk |

I have nothing on Callibre's tool bar that says "Send to Device". The Kobo is plugged in to my laptop. I see Add books, edit Metadata, remove books, preferences, manage categories, get books, save to disk, edit books, help, sort by, and convert. Well for some reason, my laptop does not show the Kobo. I unplugged the USB and plugged it back in, and there it was. Success! I had to send 1 book at a time, then the device would not eject (ejected on the 3rd time), then the books I sent were on the Kobo. Yay! Thank you! I won't have to read on my phone tonight. (My Fire tablet decided to freeze on the FIRE screen last night, and I guess it is gone (R.I.P.) Was pretty old though. I even tried a factory reset. Still stuck.) Now if only I could find a leather cover for the Sage. |

My laptop was not showing the device at all. After trying 3 times, it worked. I did not see Send to Main Memory, and I could only send 1 book at a time, but I finally got 12 books sent. They all opened on the Kobo. I bought a reconditioned Sage, but it is probably a problem with my laptop. Thanks. |

Select one or more books and the right click menu will have Send to Device. Hovering on that will bring up the Send to main memory (the other two Send to options are not available on the Sage). Since I didn't have a device connected, all 3 options are greyed out.

Thanks, everyone. I learned how to select multiple books and send to device.
I will review my thoughts about the Sage on a new post in case someone else needs the info. I know the Sage's battery life is not that great, but I thought it would last more than 1-2 days. I read last night on Dark mode with the light at 10%, Wifi off, and Bluetooth off. I had it set to go to sleep after 5 minutes. This morning the Sage is at 25%. Not good. I charged it yesterday in the morning, but did not use it until about 8:00 p.m. When I plugged it in to me laptop to send Calibre books to it, it charged while I downloaded books. So far what I don't like about the Sage...besides the battery: 1. Auto rotate is glitchy. Sometimes, when I set the device down, the screen turns sideways and stays there when I pick the device back up. Other times, the auto rotate works fine. I have to choose either Portrait or Landscape or auto rotate freezes....sometimes. I lean the ereader against one leg and seldom hold it. Auto rotate was the most important to me, after font size, and clarity. 2. I really hate the right side of the Sage. The right side curves upward very close to the page turning buttons. I found myself pushing that curved up area instead of the buttons. Over and over. Not comfortable at all. I went back to swiping. 3. Dark mode box needs easier access. I wish they would have put the checkbox for dark mode next to the orientation, light, and fonts. I have to go through settings. 4. Font Settings Advanced: What a mess! I tried to change the WEIGHT of the font, but it was screwed up. For some reason, using the + and - did the same thing. BOTH made the font width bigger. The minus button should have made it thinner, not bigger. 5. Refresh: I set it to refresh at every new chapter. Could not make it refresh any less. When in dark screen mode and when I turned the page to begin the next chapter, the screen flashed to regular mode then reverted to dark mode. It flashed way too bright after looking at a dark gray screen. I had to remember to close my eyes before turning the last page in a chapter. It does the reverse when in regular mode - flashes to dark mode then back to regular mode. Dark mode is a medium gray, not really dark or black. I prefer dark gray or black. 6. When reading a downloaded book or a Kobo Plus free book, the upcoming page number appeared superimposed on the last letter of a word on the right side of the screen. In dark mode, the page number is in a gray box. In regular mode, the page number is normal black font. It is just irritating. 7. Justification: I don't think the OFF button works at all. Some books had 2 or 3 spaces after a contraction's apostrophe. "Can't" showed up as "can' t", etc. This was on Calibre books and Kobo Plus books. Left justification did better, but it still had extra spaces after an apostrophe. 8. Ghost image: I have no idea why or how this happened. So #6, 7, or 8? Is this a Kobo issue or a Calibre issue? Thanks |

#6 is RMSDK page numbers on the right side of the screen. This can be turned off.
Setting > Reading Settings (page 2) > Show Adobe EPUB page numbers Turn this off. |

My point was, I thought that epub displayed page numbers on the side, and kepubs display page numbers on the top/bottom.

If an epub is being displayed with the RMSDK renderer, you can get page numbers at the top and bottom (in book and in chapter) plus on the side if you have Adobe Page numbers enabled. If the OP is seeing those page numbers on the side, it suggests that they are not using the WebKit-based renderer. If the OP looks at the book in Books view, they should see EPUB as the type for books that will use the RMSDK renderer while KOBO PLUS or KOBO EPUB will use the WebKit-based renderer.
Since calibre removes the double barrelled .kepub.epub extension when ebooks are added to a calibre library, unless the OP was using the KoboTouchExtended or similar to generate .kepub.epub versions to send to their Kobo using Send to Device, what they would get on their Kobo would be .epub versions. |
