Strange behaviour
I noticed that Calibre "forgets" a descriptive line from the header when splitting an HTML file into two.
Code:
<meta content="application/xhtml+xml; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type"/> Thanks for clarifying. |

The same thing also happens with xhtml files.
Which brings me to the conclusion that calibre thinks this line is superfluous. |

It is superfluous since the default encoding for HTML in epub/azw3 files is defined as utf-8 --which means that when charset is not declared, it *must* be assumed to be utf-8.
And the calibre editor guarantees that edited HTML files are always saved as UTF-8, regardless of the encoding of file originally. |
