Update killed the Kobo

So as I was in the mist of updating to what ever we are up to now I hit a problem.

Now I didn't unplug the Kobo until it said to do so but when I did my Kobo didn't leave the upgrade mode. In fact it's pretty stuck there.

I've tried to press all the buttons many times but nothing seems to effect it. I have also taken the oh so classy paper clip reset method but this also did not work.

Have I lost my poor Kobo forever?
Or will it forever stay in its blank screen and blinding red light day?

Please help me, the city is counting on you Kobo Guy.

Have you tried re-syncing your kobo with the desktop app? How old is it?

Update:
Kobo is no longer dead

I'm not sure what did it.
If it was my certain press of a series of buttons or if it was the rather casual and frustrated throw against the wall. None the less it appears to be working now and updated.

Lesson to learn here: When all else fails throw it against the wall.
