Thank you, I didn't know it bothered me so much till I'm reading a book that has *a log* of italics.

Was just about to post about this myself - I only just noticed the issue.

Just in case it makes any difference, it also affects (i.e. removes) spaces in front of an <em>, if italics are specified. Not sure whether it also affects other kinds of emphasis, like bold, because I haven't come across that so far...

Apologies if this is a stupid question (I'm new here, so that's very possible!), but I just tried downgrading to 3.7.1 at the link you give here. But when that version has finished installing in Calibre, the Calibre plugin list still identifies it as "3.7.2". I've tried a few times, including with 3.7.0, but with the same result. Grateful for any tips!

Sorry - ignore that. After restarting Calibre, the correct plugin version was registered.

I am using the Literata 3 font and have noticed the space is missing after the italicised word. I have rolled back to the previous version of the plugin but the issue remains.

You need to roll back even more because the previous version puts spaces around em dashes if there are none.

ok then, I thought it was a problem with me or with the book but instead I see that there is a problem with the plugin. I confirm

I've rolled back to version 3.7.0 and the issue still remains ie there is very little and sometimes no space after an italicised word. Justification settings are set to off.
